Social media is abuzz with reactions, as users applaud the gesture and humorously comment on how Zuckerberg’s extravagant gift has set a new standard for romantic displays
Mark Zuckerberg has made headlines once again, but this time, it's for a grand gesture of love rather than a tech innovation. The Meta CEO recently unveiled a towering seven-foot-tall statue of his wife, Priscilla Chan, created by acclaimed artist Daniel Arsham. The sculpture, which stands in their garden, is a vibrant mix of turquoise and silver and has already stirred significant buzz on social media.
Zuckerberg shared the statue on Instagram, captioning the post, “Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife.” The statue, towering over the garden, depicts Chan in a flowing silver garment that resembles angel wings. In the photo, Chan is seen next to the statue, sipping from a light blue mug that matches the sculpture’s hues.
Chan responded to her husband's Instagram reveal with a touch of humor, commenting, “The more of me the better?” accompanied by a heart emoji. In a follow-up comment, Zuckerberg clarified, “I just try to keep a steady stream of creative projects going. I’ve joked about making a sculpture of her for years and when the opportunity to work with Arsham came up I finally did it!”
Since the post went live, the sculpture has sparked widespread commentary. Many users have made light-hearted comparisons to characters from popular culture, and one Instagram user remarked, “Husbands everywhere are shaking.”
“Setting the bar high for all the husbands out there, markiepoo,” commented one Instagram user.
“I was literally about to get the same thing for my wife. Now I have to pivot,” another user joked.
The statue's design and size are reminiscent of ancient Roman sculptures, which were often commissioned to honor significant figures and express familial devotion. According to historical sources, Roman statues were used to celebrate virtues such as loyalty and duty, values that Zuckerberg seems eager to commemorate through this modern interpretation.
The artist behind the sculpture, Daniel Arsham, is renowned for his innovative and often otherworldly works. Based in New York, Arsham's creations frequently incorporate unusual materials like crystal and volcanic ash, blending historical references with contemporary aesthetics.
Arsham’s previous collaborations include high-profile projects with brands like Tiffany & Co. and Pokémon, as well as notable exhibitions around the world.
