With a vision to help Muslim families bond over meaningful toys, a Dubai-based entrepreneur has launched a Lego-style toy that represents Islamic landmarks.

Moroccan national Abdellah Zejli said he felt there were not many options available for Muslims when it comes to toys that are educational and fun.

Having the same interlocking bricks style as Lego, he launched two sets last month. The Kaaba set which is the holiest site for Muslims and the Masjid Al Nabawi, which is the second-largest mosque in the world. “At the end of the day, it's all about making learning fun,” he said

Consisting of 300 pieces, the Kaaba set has all the important parts of the holy structure including the Black Stone and the Kiswah

Whereas the Masjid Al Nabawi set consists of the mosque’s prominent features which include its domes and the courtyard umbrellas

While both toys come with a detailed instruction manual, Zelji hopes parents can join their kids as they build the sets together as share background stories about the significance of the structures in Islam.

“Muslim Blocks is also about spending quality time with children. These days, everyone is on their phone or watching television, so this allows a moment for parents and children to have some fun together,” he says.

Suggesting he has received more than a thousand orders since launching in July, Zelji said interest for the Muslim blocks has come from not just UAE, but the U.K., Canada, as well as Australia.

He is currently in the designing phase of a miniature of Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa Mosque.

While promoting Islam in a fun way, $5 from each sale is donated to nonprofit organizations.
