Rachel Zegler Stands Her Ground on Palestine, Exposing Hollywood’s Hypocrisy as Disney Pressures ‘Snow White’ Star to Delete Tweet

As Snow White flops, Disney shifts blame to Zegler, ignoring the film’s flaws while scapegoating her for opposing apartheid

Rachel Zegler, known for her lead role in Disney’s live-action Snow White, is facing corporate backlash after refusing to delete a tweet in support of Palestine.

The controversy exposes a broader issue in Hollywood—where speaking up for Palestinian rights is treated as a punishable offense while defending Israel’s occupation and war crimes is normalized.

Zegler’s simple yet powerful tweet—“and always remember, free Palestine”—came at a time when Israel’s brutal siege on Gaza was escalating, killing thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women and children.

The tweet was met with immediate hostility from pro-Israel voices, including executives at Disney, who reportedly demanded she take it down.

Producer’s Son Blames Rachel Zegler for ‘Snow White’ Box Office Failure

Jonah Platt, son of Snow White producer Marc Platt, has criticized actress Rachel Zegler for the Disney remake’s underwhelming box office performance, accusing her of “narcissism” and injecting “personal politics” into the film’s promotion.

Platt, 38, known for hosting the podcast Being Jewish and for his brief role in Netflix’s Uncoupled, made headlines after responding to an Instagram comment regarding his father’s reported intervention during the movie’s promotional campaign.

He reportedly claimed that his father flew to New York to confront Zegler over her actions, though he later deleted the post.

In his since-deleted Instagram comment, Jonah Platt wrote, “Yeah, my dad, the producer of an enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for. This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office.”

He also accused Zegler of disregarding the efforts of the film’s crew, saying, “Tens of thousands of people worked on that film, and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues, crew, and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”

Weaponizing Boycotts Against Palestine Advocates

When Zegler refused to back down, Disney executives increased security for her Israeli co-star, Gal Gadot—a former soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces, an army notorious for its war crimes against Palestinians.

Zegler’s political stance was quickly weaponized by far-right and pro-Israel groups, who falsely blamed her for Snow White’s box office struggles.

However, critics claim the film was plagued by poor production choices and weak storytelling—yet Hollywood found it convenient to scapegoat a young actress for standing up against apartheid.

Hollywood’s Hypocrisy Exposed

The backlash also reflects a dangerous double standard in the entertainment industry.

While Zegler is vilified for supporting Palestinian freedom, Gadot—who once publicly defended Israel’s bombing of Gaza—continues to be celebrated, recently receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Critics even questioned Disney’s double standard, pointing out how Gadot’s pro-Israel post faced no backlash while Zegler’s pro-Palestine stance sparked outrage—sharing side-by-side comparisons that exposed the hypocrisy.

The contrast reveals Hollywood’s complicity in upholding Israel’s narrative while silencing voices that call out its crimes.

“Rachel Zegler had one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood fly out to personally demand she delete a tweet in support of Palestine, and she refused. That takes courage,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) posted.

The comment received over 150,000 likes, proving that public sentiment is shifting despite corporate suppression.

The Cost of Speaking for Palestine

Zegler’s experience is not unique. Many artists, activists, and journalists who speak up for Palestine face career repercussions, blacklisting, and smear campaigns.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its military occupation with full U.S. backing, bombing refugee camps, hospitals and civilian infrastructure in Gaza without facing any meaningful consequences.
